(R19) Mordant iron alum solution B

Composition

-     Ferrous ammonium sulfate Fe(NH₄)₂(SO₄)₂ 6H₂O       10 g

-     Ferric ammonium sulfate FeNH₄(SO₄) 12H₂O            10 g

-     Concentrated hydrochloric acid (37%)                     10 ml

-     Distilled water                                                    1000 ml

Procedure

-     Dissolve the two salts in distilled water;

-     Slowly add hydrochloric acid;

-     Store at room temperature (best, in a refrigerator) in a dark glass bottle.
